to Tibet - Day Sixteen: Paint and Fog on Emei Mountain

An early morning long bus ride. Some of us debated branching off to go check out some pandas. It didn't work out so we stuck with the tour for another Buddhist statue, in a cliff wall and seventy one metres high it was the world's tallest carved Buddha. It was large. Also in this area, it is said that the land in the water here looks like Buddha lying on his back with an erect pagoda for a dong.

Another long bus ride into the monkey country of Emei Mountain. Cable car to the top. Lunch, dinner i can't remember, the day is as much of a fog as the peak resort that we we're trapped on. Blobby yellowish hazes reaching overhead focused on closer inspection as constructs of Buddhist idols coated in gold paint. The interior of the largest monument housed a surpisingly large shrine with more similar quality figures. It had a feeling like Vegas, some kind of recreation of the real thing with some added jazz for excitement. The limiting fog helped maintain mystery on a painted charlatan.
